International Association of Yoga Therapists a Brief Review of Research and Controversies in Eeg Biofeedback and Meditation

چکیده
This study explores the physiological correlates of a highly practiced Kundalini Yoga meditator. Thoracic and abdominal breathing patterns, heart rate (HR), occipital parietal electroencephalograph (EEG), skin conductance level (SCL), and blood volume pulse (BVP) were monitored during prebaseline, meditation, and postbaseline periods. Visual analyses of the data showed a decrease in respiration rate during the meditation from a mean of 11 breaths/min for the preand 13 breaths/min for the postbaseline to a mean of 5 breaths/min during the meditation, with a predominance of abdominal/diaphragmatic breathing. There was also more alpha EEG activity during the

متن کاملA Unique Approach of Noise Elimination from Electroencephalography Signals between Normal and Meditation State
In this paper, unique approach is presented for the electroencephalography (EEG) signals analysis. This is based on Eigen values distribution of a matrix which is called as scaled Hankel matrix. This gives us a way to find out the number of Eigen values essential for noise reduction and extraction of signal in singular spectrum analysis. This paper gives us an approach to classify the EEG signa...

متن کاملCardiorespiratory and metabolic changes during yoga sessions: the effects of respiratory exercises and meditation practices.
The novelty of this study was to investigate the changes in cardiorespiratory and metabolic intensity brought about by the practice of pranayamas (breathing exercises of yoga) and meditation during the same hatha-yoga session. The technique applied was the one advocated by the hatha-yoga system. Nine yoga instructors-five females and four males, mean age of 44+/-11, 6, were subjected to analysi...

Background and Objective: Meditation is commonly perceived as an alternative medicine management tool for psychological diseases such as depression and anxiety disorders. To our knowledge, there is no published study providing an index for estimating meditation's depth from biological signals. Estimating the depth of meditation can be useful in controlling its different levels, and it can be us...
